Dr. Vicki Kucia
Dr. Vicki Kucia is a Veterinarian and certified Veterinary Acupuncturist. She received a Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from Tufts University School of Veterinary Medicine with a focus in small animal medicine and pain management. She trained in Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Veterinary Medicine (TCVM) at the Chi Institute of TCVM.
Dr. Kucia has served the Central Massachusetts area as a veterinarian since graduation. She is excited to open WagMore Veterinary Care offering Wellness and Acupuncture, after years of ownership at an animal hospital in Uxbridge, MA. “I wanted to leave the faster paced hospital setting and be able to spend more time with my clients and their pets. Wellness and Acupuncture are an art which can not be rushed. WagMore is not an appointment driven practice, allowing us more time to spend with our clients and their pets.” She is passionate about working with clients to educate them on how to optimize their pets health. “Our time with our pets is too short. We can give someone another quality year or two with their pet by focusing on wellness and prevention of disease. We have the tools to use our scientific knowledge to integrate the best of what Western and Eastern medicine have to offer.”
Dr. Kucia lives on site in Millbury with an array of critters. Currently, there is a variety of chickens, goats, cats, fish and miniature schnauzers. While we are not a petting zoo we don’t discourage you visiting our family. If you need cheering up or just a good laugh feel free to bring along veggie snacks for Justin, Ty and Carm. They happily put on a good goat show for food!
Prior to veterinary school, Dr. Vicki Kucia attended Mount Holyoke College and graduated Magna cum laude, with a major in Biology and a minor in Chemistry and Education. She was awarded a Student Leadership and Service Award and the Kathryn M. Eschenberg Incentive Award for Excellence in Biology.
Additionally, she has a Associate of Science from Manchester Community Technical College in Medical Laboratory Technology. During her studies at MCTC she received numerous awards including Salutatorian and Treasurer’s Award. She also is board certified as a Medical Laboratory Technician by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists.
Impressively, she is one of the elite scholars who is inducted into the Phi Zeta Honor Society, Phi Beta Kappa Honor Society, the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society and the Eta Mu Lambda Honor Society.
Dr. Kucia is always attending continuing education seminars to stay current in veterinary medicine and to offer clients more options for their pets’ wellbeing.
Jill-Anne Godbout
Meet Jill, WagMore’s surgery technician extraordinaire! She’s a Registered Nurse by day working at Fresenius Kidney Care full time. Before that she worked with the elderly in a nursing home setting and a residential for eating disorders. She has been in nursing since 2018 first as an LPN after graduating from Quinsigamond Community College in Worcester. Her passion for animals began when she was young and at 14, she began working for her aunt who owns a boarding/ daycare/grooming facility.
Jill was introduced to Dr. Kucia when she wanted a second opinion about her cat back in 2018. Jill says, “I was impressed with how passionate and caring she was and how quickly she was able to make time for us. I knew I had found my new vet!”
While she enjoys her job as a human nurse, Jill is thankful for the opportunity to help with surgeries at WagMore. She gets the chance to do something different while still using her nursing skills. Cuddling with furry friends is an extra bonus. Her hobbies include camping (usually in Maine) and she loves a good book. Jill’s also a big foodie and won’t pass up a good meal whether home cooked or out. She has two rescue dogs, Rambo and Scout along with a human child, Olivia all of who are her world.
Max Checkoway
Max is a Certified Veterinary Assistant who brings a lifelong love of animals to our care team. He earned his certification through the veterinary program at Quinsigamond Community College, building upon years of both personal and professional animal care experience. Max chose to enter the veterinary field after realizing how much joy his own pets bring to his life every single day, and he is dedicated to passing that happiness forward to our clients. Known for his exceptionally calm and gentle approach, he excels at keeping patients relaxed and comfortable during their visits.
On any given day at the clinic, Max wears many hats to keep things running smoothly. He is often the friendly voice answering phones, scheduling appointments, and welcoming clients at the front desk. In the back, he works hand-in-hand with our veterinarians to safely assist with medical procedures, prepare rooms, and carefully fill prescriptions. “My days at the practice are always busy and rewarding. I am so happy to be a part of WagMore!”
At home, Max manages a lively household that includes his two tuxedo cats, Jules and Rascal, a Chiweenie named Penny, a ferret, and a tree frog. When he isn’t caring for patients at the clinic, he enjoys channeling his creativity into cooking, photography, music, and arts and crafts.
Sam Boria
Sam’s connection to WagMore runs deep. Before joining our team as an assistant at 15, she was a longtime client who brought her own pets here for years. Raised near the clinic, Sam has been surrounded by animals her whole life. Her extensive experience includes caring for cats, dogs, chickens, ducks, and horses.
As a dedicated assistant, Sam keeps the clinic running smoothly by stocking rooms, keeping facilities clean, holding pets safely, and assisting our vets with patient care. Sam always has a smile and keeps things running smoothly! “This is the best high school job I could have asked for – I love caring for the pets and working with the clients.”
Currently, she shares her home with three cats—Brooks, Autumn, and Loki—and an English Mastiff named Zoey. Driven by her lifelong passion, Sam plans to study veterinary medicine and become a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM). Outside of work, she enjoys riding horses, baking, creating art, and spending time in nature, and cuddling with her pets.
Randy Bohn
Randy joins the WagMore Veterinary Care team after a distinguished 35-year career as a UPS driver. Now enjoying his well-deserved retirement, Randy has traded his brown delivery truck for the clinic floor, where his lifelong love for animals shines every day. He plays a vital role behind the scenes by assisting our medical team with advanced procedures, including surgeries, ultrasounds, and echocardiograms. Randy has also proudly earned the title of WagMore’s “Designated Hugger,” providing crucial post-operative comfort and gentle cuddles to pets as they wake up from surgery.
